Safer Space and Harassment Contact Persons
We want Helsinki Circus Festival to be a safe, warm and welcoming place for everyone — a place to just be, take part and enjoy the performances. Let’s treat each other with respect and look after the good festival atmosphere together.
We do not accept discrimination, harassment or violent behaviour. Please respect other people’s physical and emotional boundaries, as well as their different backgrounds and identities. Our staff, volunteers and performers also deserve respect and a peaceful working environment.
In addition, the following festival venues have their own safer space policies. Please familiarise yourself with them on arrival and keep them in mind throughout the festival.

If something is on your mind
The festival has two harassment contact persons you can turn to if you experience or witness harassment, discrimination, inappropriate behaviour or anything else that makes you feel unsafe. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch — also if you’re unsure how to handle a situation.
The harassment contact persons are also present at the festival and you’re welcome to talk with them in person. If you’d like to meet them, send an email and we’ll arrange a suitable time and place.
Harassment contact persons:
Emma Laitila – emma.laitila@gmail.com
Leo Kaipiainen – leo.kaipiainen@gmail.com
You can also contact the festival staff or send a message to prosirkus@gmail.com. All communication concerning safety and harassment is handled confidentially.
Please also remember to ask for permission before photographing others. There is a photographer working at the festival — if you’d prefer not to appear in the photos, please let them know.
